Easttown Welcomes New Police Chief
(Added 8/7/09)

Retiring Chief Thomas Armstrong replaced by former Detective Lt. John Haggerty.
EASTTOWN — Chief Thomas Armstrong, 56, officially retired
at the end of the day July 9. Last month, the Board of Supervisors
chose his second-in-command, Lt. John Haggerty, 65, as his replacement. Haggerty assumes the leadership of the department after having been the department's detective for more than a decade.

"It'll be difficult for me to leave (as a detective) because it's a totally different job across the hall," Haggerty says regarding the new office he'll be in when he becomes chief. "I've been doing cop work and now it's administrative work. It's a different career across that hall."

CCPCA 2009 Installation Banquet

On January 23, 2009 the Chester County Police Chiefs held its biannual banquet at the Downingtown Country Club to swear in a new President and to thank the outgoing President for his service. In front of about 180 people, West Chester Borough Police Chief Scott Bohn took his oath of office. Common Pleas Judge Anthony Sarcione administered the oath. Scott then called on out going President Ralph Burton to thank him for his past two years of service as President.

Bohn said, “I am looking forward to working with everyone to make sure the association’s concerns are heard.”

The guests were honored to have Philadelphia Police Commissioner Ramsey as their guest speaker. Commissioner Ramsey spoke about the importance of local police departments, regardless of size, in sharing information and working together to solve crimes.

It was a great evening and everyone enjoyed themselves.
